Dashboard, Dome and backing lights fading in and out?
I have a 2002 CLK 430
What could be the cause of my dashboard lights fading in and out along with my dome light when I first start my car and it idles. After it's warmed up and running it tends to stop doing the fading in and out or its not as evident. I've changed my battery, alternator is good, check fuses under the hood...what could it be? it's rather annoying.

Normally when we see the lights dimming with a turn signal on or high end radio booming it is a voltage regulator issue.
The 2002 clk cv (WTF) has the regulator brush assembly in the back of the alternator. When the brushes start to wear these kind of things start to happen.
This is the easiest place to start.
Other instrument cluster issues are related to pixel repair but you have dimming issues. Once full battery voltage is eminent @ the cluster then it might require replacement.
The Lighting dimmer is controlled by the up/dn arrow keys on the left of the cluster. If the intensity follows the symptom then there is something going on in the cluster.
Cheers
