rear diff.

i'm building an 05 clk55 rear diff for my 09' 550. I want the higher gear ratio. I'm looking to put in a lsd first. Weistec doesn't have one. Is my only option a quafie for your cars?

Strange, because the CLK 55 rear diff housing is the same as CLK 63 and SLK 55. CLK/SLK 55 have 3.06 final gear where CLK 63 is 2.65. You can put the Wavetrac in it and Weistec sell it for the CLK 63, C 63 etc.

A freind of mine ordered a Wevatrac from Weistec and installed it in the housing of his SLK 55 (same as CLK 55)
You can also use a Drexler LSD, but it is a little more expensive

thats strange because weistec emailed me saying the dont have one that would fit it.

looking on the drexler site i dont see one listed for a w209 either.

I can assure you the Wavetrac sold by Weistec for CLK or C63 is compatible with the rear diff housing of a CLK/SLK 55 (A2033508564). A friend of mine installed one on his SLK 55. It was initially ordered for my CLK 63, but I changed my mind

You can verify on the wavetrac web site 215 AXLE Applications

Rod from Weistec must be able to confirm

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your email and interest in Weistec products. Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer any products for your vehicle, except for an TCU upgrade to improve transmission performance and a set of high flow air filers for better air flow.

Please let me know if you would like more information on these products or if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Zach Elmished – Weistec staff

I am not surprised. I told Rod from Weistec, that The Wavetarc they sold me for my CLK 63 fitted perrfectly in a SLK 55.
Wavetrac only has one LSD for C63, SLK/CLK 55/63. The only différence is the final gear of the rear diff between SLK/CLK 55 (3.06),CLK 63 (2.65) and C63 (2.82)

You have 2.82 strandard on your CLK 550 ?
Will you change the final gear to 3.06 ?
If yes, you probaly already know, but you have to mod your TCU

mine actually has the 2.65 also. Yes in going to keep the 3.06 ratio that is the reason im doing the swap. Kleemann is going to mod the tcu for me.

You can go for Wavetrac.
Drexler is also a solution. It is OEM lsd of the CLK Black Series

haters crazy
I wonder if the diff I have would bolt up to your car. 3.06 gears and wvaetrac already installed, you would just have to bolt it in. Do you have any pics of your diff? More importantly the mounting points?

SRT8. They look very similar but you would have to use your rear cover. I will let you know if I decide to part it out
