i have owned a GT3 and a GT2 and i can safely say that CLK63 BS is in this league if not better due to engine gearbox combo. add to that the weight distribution on this car is way better than the porsche. with near zero under steer and extremely controlled and crisp over steer i am having much more fun with the BS than i did with the Porsches. i feel she is taking care of me while i am acting stupid unlike the P's where i was always scared of them bitting back!
what i found out with the BS it has a few achilles heel:
1 better tyre rim combination so you are not stuck with one producer
2 crisper gear shifts needed
3 brakes (are not track friendly at all)
4 bushings are too soft for this beast
the beauty is all of the above have solutions and when done properly this is the best weekend toy / daily driver combination money can buy

Ran into Scott the AMG Private Lounge CE (he owned a one-off matte silver CLK BS) and he reiterated the sentimate. There's a lot of sellers remorse from prior owners who sold to move on to a different car. I feel the same way. What could I get, relatively speaking, that could replace it? Yeah, if I could afford an SL65 Black, F599 GTB or even 991 GT3RS, maybe. But in this $55K to $85K price point, it'd be difficult to find as entertaining an automobile.
Enjoy. It's a really nice specimen. But when you do liquidate, make sure it's for something that won't leave ya thinking "what if?"

Honestly....go drive a Black Series. It will all make sense after that. They are just a huge laugh to drive. Very special, and perfectly balanced.

IMO, you seem to be agonizing over little things vs stepping back and looking at the complete package. That said, it's what's important to you...whether it's rev matching, latest cabin tech, or whatever. To me, it's all about the feel of the car and the driving experience. Looking at it from that angle, it was a no brainier for me; and yes, I drove the C63. Also, from an exclusivity stand point, again a no brainier. Last Cars and Coffee I went to (CLK BS seem to be much more rare in my area), I was parked next to a new M5 with a (I believe) a 2015 C63 two cars away...it was like they were invisible...nuff said.

I will go back to one other thing when it comes to choosing between the C63 or the CLK63 Black Series. Besides the driving experience, when IndyCar drivers come over to me and say that when they owned a CLK63 Black Series it was the best car they ever owned, that says something to me. Especially when they have owned several 'money is no object' exotic cars.

Do some searching on here for throttle blip and valve body upgrades and you will see some threads.

Is the transmission computer different from the ECU? Because my car has the evosport ECU upgrade already.

Hot button on this forum, Doc. Can't throw down the gauntlet even in jest! I got it after a spit take on my iPad while drinking coffee. Thinking "oh sh_t, it's about to go down" then realized it was a joke and was p_ssed at myself for not immediately getting it. I think those email alerts might have something to do with it. No context; all ya see is a flame post.

On to more important non-BS things like hijacking this thread ...lusting over a Backdraft Cobra and lurking on the Cobra forum. Top two builders seem to be Backdraft and Superformance. Also read about some issues with the 427...any thoughts?

The cobra is very fatiguing. Only good for short drives around town in my opinion. Unless you're a hard-core racer. I dont miss it, but I live in Miami where it's hot and humid. I had no issues with the Roush 427. The biggest danger in these cars is the torque converter or lack there of. Almost decapitated myself with a stop sign after downshifting to second gear and completely lost traction.

Fatiguing in multiple ways, but especially the side exhaust and the loud 427 sound. The suspension is not what i was thinking of first in my response. Mine was a Backdraft. Kirkhams are great too, but pricey.
