Question Head Bolt Replacement - Advice - Who has had this done?

I am aware of the noted problem and the TSB. I assume this work is a must do?

Has anyone had this work performed either by an indy or Benz dealer? Ball park pricing through an Indy?

Thanks for any feedback.

Yeah, $3-4K with an indy. Preferably an off-duty MB dealer mechanic (IMO) A dealer is prolly double that , at least.

I don't think it is as big a problem as the internet made it out to be, the number of cars that had actual failures is fairly low...I've had my M156 for 5 years with zero issues. I too was worried prior to purchase, but all that sleep was lost for nuttin'.

I don't believe they will 'pick up the tab'....they 'might' help you out if there is a failure, but only if there is a failure...preemptive replacement will not be covered I was told from my local dealer.
