2012 CLS 63 AMG with super high millage, what is it really worth?
I just brought at auction 2012 CLS 63 AMG with almost 186k mi on it, it was a dealer trade in. Which they dumped at auction, all what it needed was an oil change and new tires. The car doesn't feel like it has over 100k mi or look it. It loaded with almost everything on it and it does have the performance pack on it. I would like to get an idea what you guys think it's really worth. It bluebooks for 35k private party, which I spent nowhere near that.

If I am not too bold to ask but just out of curiosity what did you pay for it? And how on earth does someone rack up 186,000 miles on a 2012 CLS when it is September of 2014? Do post some pics of it so we can get a better idea of condition too. For a MB if taken care of you should get another 100K out of it with ease.

I spent under 10k for it, the dealer was hoping for more. The person had it for 30 months. That's 6200 miles per mouth about and I have seen cars around 3 years old with over 150k mi before at auction before. You see stuff like within 25 miles of the NYC area and even 50 miles, but not as much. You see that because there so many people who commute to NYC and put over 120 miles per day on their car. The person who owned it last did that and traveled a lot. I can tell from service records. I will post some photos soon in a day or two.

It's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it and no one is going to want a CLS63 with that many miles. So just drive it, enjoy it, hope nothing breaks, and enjoy the gamble! If you can get two years out of it, then you win in my opinion.

2012 CLS
That is some mileage, and many many hours spent behind the wheel (and traffic).
You got a great deal ..... And disasters aside you should enjoy!
On the other hand I'll give you a 50% profit and bring it back to the UK

Wow that is some serious driving. Assuming it was not driven like a pissed off teenager you should get many more miles on. Upkeep is key to a MB. Even still you far ahead of the game as you could part it out and make far more then $10,000 or whatever you paid for it. As far as something breaking my guess is the first thing to go wrong would be the Airmatic. This of course can be swapped using aftermarket parts that will save you tons.

I personally think that you scored on this purchase. It seems like a steal for that price. Having 186000 miles shouldn't depreciate a car 12 times what it cost new.
My concerns are that this car might have been a mule car for Mercedes for testing otherwise I just can't imagine how miserable a person's work has to be to have to drive 250 miles a day for 7 days a week for 2 years uninterrupted , that is the average when you throw the equation of 186000 miles divided by 2 years. We can talk about blood clogs and how much your metabolism slows down when you sit behind the wheel of a car every day of the week for hours, not to mention that you have no time to enjoy life!!
Anyways, check your car fax and the title, it might reveal something else but if everything looks clear then all I can say is congratulation.

I use to work for a dealer and I never understood a lot of things that went on. There was a lot of good cars that were never put on the lot, a lot of the reasons were dumb.

From records it doesn't seem like it was, It was a car dealer auction I go to every 2 to 3 weeks about. I'm thinking about keeping it, I always wanted a cls63 amg. I wished it had lower millage.

It was taken care of really well, I think I can get far more than 10k for it. My first car was a 2004 e500 which I given by my grandfather. The person who owned didn't upkeep it well and stuff always broke on that car. I know if you don't upkeep your mb it will be very unforgiving, than again I know ppl who have ran them in ground with no problems till they start looking for a new one.

Who cares about the mileage, if the car runs great and you don't need the money, keep it!! That's a heck of a deal for $10k. Post some pics if you can.

And now that you've saved so much money, you should put on some nice 20" multispoke and multipiece wheels on it with some great offsets and big rear 305 tires.
Like the ones I have for sale in my sig...

holly crap! less than 10k for that car is insane. Part it out and make 10k on it easily. Or just drive it til you blow the motor. Either way nice pickup!
I think if you were trying to flip it you could easily get 20k for it regardless of the mileage.
