Can Key Fob close trunk?
I have a 2017 CLS 550 and I always open the trunk either by the button on the FOB or the latch. I have also used the driver side trunk control to both open and close the trunk. Today I tried to close the trunk with the FOB and it does not work. It opens with it but will not close and I have to press the red button on the trunk itself. Is this a malfunction or will the FOB button only open the trunk?

The Feds want you to have sight of the trunk when it closes, so you don't accidentally close it on someone. That's why you can open the windows and sunroof from a distance, but in the US to close them you have to use the infrared thing (meaning standing right next to the door).
That's why we in the US don't have the auto sunroof and window closure if the car detects rain.
I don't know if European cars will close from the fob, but not here.

Yes, that is why I started this thread. I had a 2012 ML350 and the remote key opened and closed the hatch. Since it was also a Mercedes, I thought the CLS would do the same. I guess they treat trunks differently than a hatch.
