Is this true keyless?

In my lexus we just leave the key in the pocket.

In this benz I see you can insert the key, but there is push start.

Does that mean you have to insert the key to start the car?

The key can be used manually if your battery is dead.

The slot is for when the battery in the key fob is dead! You just keep the key in your pocket just like the Lexus.
