Silent Alarm / Faulty Siren?!?!

After locking my doors and arming the alarm, the fog and tail lights start blinking. i've read other posts mentioning a faulty siren, that one way to verify is if their siren stopped working;

The difference here is my alarm still chirps when arming and my panic siren is still audible, is there any other way to verify the faulty siren (maybe a bad relay?) or is the fog and tail light blinking the actual indicator of a faulty siren?

if it is a faulty siren, are the instructions posted here valid for my MY06; (I really don't know how many horns / sirens are in this vehicle)

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I can't seem to locate the part number for what's labeled as H3/1 Alarm Signal Horn with additional battery (BA80.50-P-1001-01C), is that the same as #1718202526 or is there an updated part #?

I'm coming across a lot of cross-compatible / replacement part numbers for this horn, I know you mentioned 1718202526, but would you happen to know if any/all of the following part #'s reference the same part and is compatible?

2198203226, 2118209026, 1718205326, 2038203826, 2208202826, 1718202526, 0048201926, 0048201826

I ask because TLS no longer has that part.

Thanks for the quick response konigstiger, i'm guessing what EPC shows is specific for my model.

I was hoping the stock codes i found on http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/__/ALA...198203226.html would be compatible because I found cheaper listings on ebay with the other stock codes #s

Still listed: https://www.tlsautorecycling.com/sea...00/236371.html Anyway, as per product fitment, mbpartsworld: “This product fits 639 vehicle variants. Mercedes: 73 models, 639 variants between 1990 and 2012.”

I replaced the siren over the weekend and the alarm is now audible! Thanks Konigstiger!

Only issue i'm encountering is that the siren does not chirp when enabling/disabling the alarm, at first I thought it was the key fob, but the panic button can engage the alarm. i'm not sure if this is a setting or something else (fuse/relay?).

It's not that big of a concern, my biggest worry was making sure the siren can be heard which it can now.

Any suggestions?

The alarm in general is arming/dis-arming correctly, the turn signal lamps flash three times and the indicator lamp flashes after arming, it's just not chirping when arming.

I did look through the manual and found several sections that indicate "An acoustic signal sounds three times (if equipped and feature activated)" but could not locate any additional details on activating the feature in the manual.

Is this something that has to be done via SDS? I recall it working in the past, perhaps it was deactivated when it sat in storage and the batteries died?

I was reading some other threads for other vehicles mentioning to check the fuse and try pulling it and putting it back to reset it. I'll check that out, i'm assuming it's the fuse and relay box in the luggage compartment, fuse #8.

Posted manual reference to indicate nothing to worry about concerning function. You can try resetting by pulling f8 @ rear SAM if this fails it could a problem with the siren unit if purchased used or audio needs to be activated via MB DAS.

I tried yanking F8 and it's still not chirping, if i can find someone with an MB DAS i'll have them take a look, i'm not too worried about the siren, as long as it's functioning that's all that matters to me, thanks again for everything konigstiger!
