Anyone with idler gear failure / replacement?
My 2007 CLS550 is included in the early M273 cars that are prone to idler gear failure. generally, if you have a 2007 CLS550 manufactured before 10/06 you're in this group. I was wondering, has anyone else here with a 2007 CLS550 had theirs replaced? MB is covering 37% of the replacement cost as part of a class-action settlement, but the total cost is still around $4000 as the engine has to be removed to replace it. Any thoughts?

2007 CLS550
Hey Foreyes, I have a 2007 CLS550 as well and have been wondering the same thing. I have just over 100k on mine. From what I have gathered, mine also falls into that group. Are you having an issues? or just wondering? I have had to replace some solenoids, which from my understanding have a fault in them as well, considering this was on the same bulletin as the idle gear/balance shaft issues. I also wonder how many cars will be affected with this. 25%, 50% 75%? Not all of the models have defective parts from what I understand. But yea 37% isnt much for a faulty part on their end. The deadline is rapidly approaching too (Dec 2016 - 125k miles). How many miles do you have on yours? Also, this may be off topic, but what all have you had to do on yours? I am curious what parts might need replacing in the hopefully "far" future.

Hey Fresh, my CLS has 90,000 miles and has had no problems so far, although at 30,000 miles the car did have cam solenoids replaced under warranty. I'm just going to do frequent oil changes with Mobil 1 synthetic and fleece filters and not worry about it.
