Hi, I have a cls550 with AMG body package. I have currently modified the exhaust by deleting the resonator and replaced by x-pipe as well as delete the secondary cats. Sounds good but still quiet but when I full throttle it then you can hear it.

I want more a of AMG sound. I have the the option to buy c63 AMG eisenmann exhaust locally (slightly used) or brand new oem cls63 AMG mufflers.

I was wondering if I can fit the c63 Eisenmann exhaust to my cls550 with enough clearance. I know I would have to cut rear bumper.

Any advice would help. Thanks

Someone has tried to fit the C63 mufflers and I believe they did not fit properly.
I have E55AMG mufflers without any cats or resonators and the car STILL sounds quiet at idle and low RPM, but extremely nice under throttle. Wish it were louder though. lol.
I would assume the CLS63 mufflers should be similar in shape, if not internals to the E55 ones, maybe louder too.

Just found a video on youtube of a cls500 with c63 mufflers. Looks like he got the mufflers to work. Sounds good and more of the AMG sound.


Might go with the Eisenmann c63 exhaust. I will update you guys with soon with the exhaust.

I just got my resonator deleted and straight piped on a cls500 2006 and it sounds great when racing or revving the engine. It is completely silent on the inside btw but after the welder revved the car a few times I was satisfied right away. It is missing that rumble when you start the car up and also at idle... is this something that would require modifying or straight piping the muffler... they offered to straight pipe my muffler but I figured that would be way too loud and didn't want to go over board. Also is there more than one resonator on the cls500? They only changed the center one (where the exhausts connect) and straight piped it but i've read previous posts where they claimed they straight pipe two resonators closer to the engine... what does that do and is it necessary?

I have the EC/Kleeman midlength headers with catless mid pipes, straight 2.75" SS tubing front to back with a small H-Pipe up front near the transmission, stock E55 mufflers.
It HAS gotten louder, definitely louder than the above video, and under WOT sounds like hell hath awoken it's beasts. Wish I had another 200WHP though...oh well..LOL.

Am going to gut the '55 mufflers and make it more of a straight through design, rather than the convoluted, multi chambered mess it is now.

EDIT : Sorry, I did not read your question through...there are 2 big, fat cats just under the headers, then an H Pipe, then 2 smaller cats (reso-cats...?) and then a big resonator/muffler-y thing. CUT ALL this out. You will be shocked as to how much all this weighs...and on a pig like our CLS's, i'm sure that's good for at least 1-2 mph...lol

Was the e55 exhaust a straight fit on the cls500 and did it make a big difference without all your other exhaust mods? I think we have the same car I have the 06 w219 cls500. Any chance we can hear how your exhaust sounds?

I will try and get a sound clip up, but I only have a ****ty camera phone, so don't really know how it will sound.
The startup "blat" is awesome. Then it settles to a soft, yet deep burble.
On heavy acceleration and WOT, it is L-O-U-D!!! It's a Like it, Loud, not Hate it, Loud.
But I had them on before I put in the headers and removed the primary cats, and the difference was, I would say, 10-15% louder than stock.
The primary cats are the real noise abaters here.

Was it a straight fit. NO.
They look similar but when fitted, hits the sides of the body where the bumpers attach. I cut off bits of metal at the very corners that were putting dents in the inner outlet pipes, before the tips, but then literally had to make the outlet pipes again with pieces of SS.
Would I do it again...HELL NO. LOL
They are nowhere as aggressive sounding as C63 mufflers.
Thats why I want to gut them and see if that beasts up the sound at low RPM a bit more.
However, I have NO drone.

Hey guys, i'm a fairly new owner & member on forum and was wondering what wiuld be the best options on a resonator delete on my 2012 cls 550. I'm really a fan of that AMG sound, is doing just the delete & straight pipe enough to get close to that 63 sound ?
