CLS 350 CGI 2008 Check Engine + reduced power
Hello, about two months ago I bought CLS 350 CGI 215kW with 144 000km. Car seemed to be in perfect condition which was confirmed by check and diagnostic by authorised mercedes service.
Now all of the sudden I got the Check engine light and car lost nearly all of its power. No other message on the display, the gearbox shifts correctly. Engine sounds normal.
When buying the car I was aware of the ballance shaft issue of the M272 engines but my car has engine number 272985 30 996859 and from what I found on the internetet the affected engines were up to 2729..30 468993.
Do you have any idea before I find somebody with the diagnostic?
Thanks

Hello, in the morning the check engine light was still on but the car was running normally without power loss. In the afternoon it started without check engine light.
The diagnostic showed only saved problem with EGR not opening and closing properly. Hopefully it will be OK.

Sorry for my English, i am not from US.
I had the same problem on my CLS 350CGI. The EGR valve was responsible of this trouble.
Sometimes, the car was running well.
Sometimes the engine light was on without any power loss
Sometimes engine light was on without any power.
After few month, the problem was coming very frequently (every 2 days)
Two options were proposed to me :
1/ Desactivate the EGR by programing the ECU (electronically)
2/ Changing the EGR valve. Price was very hight compare to other models of mercedes.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I hope that the problem wouldnt return on my car.
If it would return my mechanic told me that he will just clean the EGR valve and it should be enough.
