Hertz Planning To Rent VW TDIs

Just saw over at a VW forum that Hertz has announced that they'll be offering Jetta TDIs for rent. There's a bit of a discussion brewing there, some of it concerning the potential problems that Hertz could face...mis-fuelling! I,personally, would be very interested in renting one just to take it on the Interstate for 3 or 4 hundred miles to check out mileage, etc.

It's "tdiclub dot com" for anyone interested.

Looks cool. I saw that advertised by Hertz too. I rented a Jetta from them one trip, but it was a gasser. Definitely have to try the TDI and beat on it.

That's great, I used to be Hertz president's circle may try switch my renting back to them. They will probably make it part of their "Green Collection" and charge more for it than its really worth, though I guess if you are driving a lot and paying the fuel yourself it may be worth it. I got annoyed with Hertz once as I hired their Camry from the "Green Collection" thinking it was Hybrid, which at the time all the Hybrid's were fully loaded. However it turned out that Hertz considered the 4cyl Camry an exclusive "Green" vehicle.

I wouldn't worry about the misfueling too much, I am sure they will put huge stickers on the fuel cap etc. Overseas I am sure many American's have hired diesels and figured it out?
