2004 E320 CDI turbo replacement

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing great.

I'm looking for a new turbocharger for my 2004 E320 CDI. This is a 3.2L, engine OM648.

If I understand correctly, the turbo used in it is the GT2359V. I have a couple of questions for the forum:

- Is this the turbo piece I should be looking for?
- Is it available in the USA?

Thanks in advance!
Dario.

Well you live in a beautiful country--Paraguay

In any event your 648.961 with a EXH turbo is part number 648 096 02 99.(also available as reconditioned)

I would also change the air in and out seal ring and gasket part numbers 646 142 00 80 and 012 997 22 45. Good Luck----enjoy the beach!!

Thanks for the part numbers! I've found it in a couple of places already :-) Ranging from 890 Euro in Germany, to 2640 USD in the States.

Paraguay is beautiful indeed, though there are no beaches :-( Maybe you're thinking Uruguay ;-)

Regards,
Dario.

Ouch!!

Your rivers are awesome, you mean theres no beach!

PS; The best I could do is USD 1252 ex works, however the other bad news is that the vendor requires a USD194.00 core charge. In any event there has to be a source in Brazil or Argentina

You're right, we have a couple of big nice rivers, and several little ones :-)

So I found the part for 890 Euro (around USD 1200) in this website, www.turbolader.net

http://en.turbolader.net/Turbocharge...436-5001S.aspx

It seems to be based in Germany. Does anyone here knows about that website? Is it known / reliable / etc?

Go to ebay.de and you will find turbos from 250 euros. I recently purchased one for total cost including shipping to states for less than 400$. It came from wrecked car but it is in perfect working shape.

More extensive search will give you more results just trydifferent search criteria. I will recommend getting familiar w/I6 vs. V6 turbobecause under E320CDI you will find turbo for both engines.

I purchased one from this guy and he is selling two more:

I'd love to put in one of the newer Water Cooled twin scroll turbos that bump the engine to 265HP.. anyone managed to figure that one out yet? This would obviously be for the OM642 engine.

You can achieve same result probably w/ECU flash. New turbo is direct bolt on w/new mounting stand but will require water supply for cooling and you probably will have to flash the ECU, because that change in the horsepower cannot be achieved only by changing the turbo. The new one produces more boost probably, at least this is the only way to have same package w/better efficiency, thus you will need and bigger MAP sensor or they updated it to ball bearing for quicker response while keeping same turbo map and changed ECU mapping.

Guys, my VIN is WDBUF26J75A757117
What is the part # for my turbo for future reference?

It has been cool here recently (mid 30's) and today after the car was just warmed up I gave it full throttle a few times. When I got to the parking lot as I putted around looking for a spot, when mid throttle then letoff I notice the turbo barking (compressor surge). What gives? Actuator?

Thanks.

You can buy CHRA only and transfer all the housings, it is lot cheaper (350$), assuming that there is damage to the housing.
