hood insulation orientation 84 300D
There's an aluminized portion of the hood pad 1236800625. Does the Al portion go on the right or left side of the hood on a 300D turbo (W123)?
It seems smaller than the original waffle pattern pad that available at mercedes source. Do you know what kind (brand and model) of brush on contact cement to use?

I like 3M adhesive overpriced bonding agents for this sort of attachment, they make a lot of options but usually only a couple will be for the two correct materials, in this case aluminum and painted steel I'm guessing? Not sure on your 300D, I have only an 87 190D 2.5 to compare to but earlier when I popped the hood the insulation was on the exhaust side of the hood, or above the exhaust manifold for the motor, hope this helps?

I would prefer a brush-on instead of the spray.
The hood is painted steel. I don't know the type of foam. Kind of sponge rubber?

You just have to look through their options, I have both brush on and spray on options at my shop for holding such stuff on. Both surfaces being near surgical clean is the most important part. I'm not sure which one, I have say five options on my shelf at any given time, some of the stuff used for headliners I think would work. Here in Texas 200F hood temps not running, just parked in the summer sun are quite common so I'm not sure how high a heat rating is really needed? Check Amazon, I've ordered a few options on there with good luck.
