diesel crank doesn't start , start with ether easily but doesn't restart cold or hot

05 E320 CDI W211
I have the car for a while 2008, I search in the forum but never found something close to my problem

leaving work (warm weather 22 C) I experienced a full cranking without any start.
Exhaust doesn't smell fuel
few attempts no joy
Tryed with ether (quick start)
** yes after glow plug where shut off and very lightly direct on the air filter**

-- started first attempt easily

drove to grocery store, performance was normal
tryied to restart after shopping no joy.

restarted with ether -- easily started
drove home try to restat a minute later no joy.

Code give engine crank sensor
but rpm shows on obdII
full fuel pressure at filter, when plug is removed (messy geyser :/ )

The only way to restart without ether is if the attempt is within less than 5 secondes.

Previously a had low turbo power intermittently.
I suspect the actuator .

mass airflow was cleanout (works ones than no effect)
turbo turn freely
actuator is easy to move
no leak in the piping

I dont thiink both problems are related.
key has brand new batteries now.

anyone encounters something close to it
thank you very much

upd
crank sensor replaced
first attempt no start
second rough idling few second then shut by itself
no more start

Now we aiming toward the camshaft sensor.
when camshaft sensor is disconnected the code crank sensor disappear.

A note in the maintenance manual says no code might be shown for a camshaft sensor.

Someone experienced something like that?

upd

camshaft sensor replaced
still no start

when started with ether: we can wait about 1min or two after shut off, and it will restart, even if I removed the key in between.
I really need a hand to figure out that issue.

Thamk you very much to everyone

I would suspect flow fuel pressure. Proper star tests should be done (also tell if pressure is not rising curing the cranking), injector correction values, fuel quantity valve, fuel pressure sensor/regulator, high pressure pump. Injector leak test can be done without any special devices.
