2011 ML350 Bluetec
ML350 Bluetec 2010-11

I'm new to the forum and have begun researching this model. Have never owned a MB...currently drive an RX350 Lexus which has been extremely trouble free but a bit of a gas hog. One of the reasons I'm looking at the Bluetec. My husband thinks I'm crazy....says the injectors will probably go and cost a fortune....he has a diesel truck...

So with all this said....would you recommend purchasing a used 2010, 11 ML350 Bluetec with anywhere from 50-70K? Something in this era would be in my price range.

What is the "real" mpg?

I'm thinking a diesel engine would run much longer than a gas engine but not sure....are there any big things to watch out for?

I just like the look of the vehicle, it has the room I need, awd, and hopefully better gas mileage...

Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks!

Size, comfort and mileage will be better, maintenance will be worse.

You will probably eat up your fuel savings with maintenance.

It is a matter of personal preference and priorities.

My Bluetec was rated at 33mpg Highway but I easily got 39MPG at a steady 70mph.Ditto with my current BMW...EPA rates it at 45MPG but I get 50MPG.

One thing to consider (I hope I don't get expelled from this site for this) is that BMW makes an X5 diesel and Audi makes a Q7 diesel.I'm certain that BMWs have free maintenance for 4 yrs/50K miles in all cases and I'm pretty sure you can even do better than that with a CPO.

Why would you be expelled for saying that? As a matter of fact, the three german companies all use/used MBs bluetec system, and developed it with them. Mostly MB, which is why VW(now audi too) decided to go their own way lately, to not be forced to badge/label as bluetec. Im not sure if from the start date of initial developmetn audi and VW were combined, but they are now...

Audi has a Q model with 700 torque. and the BMWs are just overtuned versions of the E, so it really depends on what you want from your car. Design wise and overall throttle response/power delivery.

formerly drove a 2010 ML350 BLUETEC, currently drive Mazda, Chevrolet, and Toyota
My 2010 ML350 Bluetec drove great when it was running, but please do take note of my current dilemma with MBUSA and their silence in responding to my formal request for their assistance: https://mbworld.org/forums/diesel-fo...ne-seized.html
