GL320 CDI Power Loss After Starting Engine Hot
Hello...
I havd a 2008 GL320 CDI with 100K miles. When starting the car with a cold engine, the car works well and I can drive for hours. However, if I start a hot engine, I have no power. I CAN eventually get to highway speeds, but acceleration is very very slow. Pushing down on the accerator does not cause the car to downshift. It's almost like the turbo-charger isn't working. This has been going on now for about a year. Any help would be appreciated.

Out Of Control!!
Something is putting it into limp mode.
Could be any of many sensors, but the high hitter seems to be the DPF differential Pressure Sensor.
Lots written up on the W164 and X164 forums.
Try searching "Limp"

I have 2008 GL 320 CDI - which has similar problems. Staggering and loss of power off and on. My MB mechanic says its from SAM (electronics) but after reading other MB GL owners issues - I believe it could be a bad turbo or EGR. Who is right?

Seems no one knows for sure (and certainly not for your specific issue)
MB Dealers seem very bad at diagnosing what puts our engines into limp mode when it is at all intermittent and does not trip a check engine light.
A few people have had luck swapping the DPF differential pressure sensor.
A fairly inexpensive and easy part to swap and a hard part to diagnose, so it is not a bad place to start.
I would certainly not dig into the turbo, or even the EGR without some additional indication of the specific fault.

Got it shipped from USA to Cambodia -which cost as nearly as much as the part (62USD) - shipping was 50 USD. from this company.http://www.ecstuning.com/-
You had any issues with the airmatic suspension btw?

I had one rear bag go out. Used an Arnott part and worked well.
Some say to replace in pairs, but I did not.
I did notice a very slight lean that has seemed to even out after a bit of use.
