RPM comparison - owners of W210 606 motors...
I recently bought a 98 E300 and sorting her out now, funny how every model feels a little different and it almost felt like the RPMs were high today on the freeway while cruising but maybe she was right were she needed to be.
At 70 MPH I was at 3K RPMs - seem about right? I thought it was a little high. I normally drive at 75-80 MPH and was thinking if I go that fast I'll be at 3.5K or 4K RPMs! I did search and found a thread where a guy had the same RPMs as I'm reporting, the rest of the thread was worthless but thought others might chime in with their observations - thank you!

Yep, me too so perhaps its right in the sweet spot - you have the 5 spd auto trans in your 99 E300? Assumed I have it in my 98 but honestly do not know. I thought maybe 5 spd might run a little lower RPMs at the top. If I put my vin could someone tell me which tranny I have? Here it is, thanks:
