1985 Mercedes 300SD
Hello newbie to the forums here! I thought I would start off by asking some dumb questions if that's ok...
I am getting ready to turn my daily driver 1985 mercedes 300SD into a project car... I have not worked on Diesel cars before and may not do alot of the work myself, but was hoping I could get some feedback on where to start.
The car runs but the engine runs loud when idling, especially in Drive, but not moving... When i start moving and the loudness quiets down and the car sounds normal.
I know I need to fix the exhaust system and thought it might be a cracked manifold?
Anyway I am trying to sort out the first steps to take to get it back to its former glory. And before anyone says don't its not worth the money, its not really about the money but more the project.

Out Of Control!!
Well then, if you think the manifolds are cracked simply change them, however when you say loud, loud means many things to many people!!
