'82 300D coolant leak help

I recently purchased a '82 300D with 155K miles. I drove it home about 250 miles successfully only to discover oil and coolant on the garage floor. I'm reasonably sure the oil is from the cooler lines, however not sure on the coolant leak. I am told by an independent garage that the coolant line comes from the A/C ? Can anyone explain and possibly offer me a part # or at least a description of the part and best place to buy it?

Congratulation on classic purchase.
As you experienced, classics don't come without additional charges and from my memory those engines have about 20 weak oil points that can leak and most likely will leak more or less. Wash the engine often and keep observing. Once you narrow the area, stuff paper towels there for pinpointing.
If you are beginner, take pictures and post here and we will help.
For starters check all the fluids for cross-contamination.

I don't have my vin handy. Is the vin number crucial to answering the original post?

No, it only affects the correctness of my answer, however if you are simply looking for loads of HS responses then I am not a source!!

Beware of unqualified "mechanics" who will not find a machine bolt without VIN.
There is no use for VIN till you narrow what problem you have and are ready to order parts.

I have a 1982 300 Turbo Diesel that is leaking antifreeze on a driver's side line that comes from the A/C. How many of these lines can there be? I am not looking to make it difficult or ... garner tons of responses. I've also encountered 'historians' on other classic car forums that just want vin numbers for their personal collection. There's a Corvette guy that ends up selling to others what he gathers. Just thought somebody here could help out, not make a project out of it!

Again a picture would give you much more precise answer.
There is no coolant in AC. I think what you describe is leak on heater loop.
You can bypass whole heater for the summer and take care about more important things, while coming back to fixing heater for the winter.
1982 are no longer supported, but here is drawing of heater parts for 1984

Thank you for the attachment! I knew there was no coolant in the A/C but noticed the leak was around the A/C and wondered if the coolant was some how designed to cool externally the A/C operation. I can't get a pic until next week as I need to get the car on a lift then. If I can't figure it out, I'll post a pic of the problem at that time.
