AGM Battery Manufacture.

We know that when acid is added to a dry flooded battery the clock begins ticking on its lifespan. Battery retailers can store the battery dry until customer purchase. If the acid is added on manufacture it is essential to check the manufacture date to procure a fresh battery,

I would be interested to know the story of how or if storage life is managed with AGM batteries?.

They seem to last well, mine being almost. 9 years old & I have heard of them going strongly well after 10 years.

Don't think car batteries are delivered dry to the warehouse.
That happens with generator batteries, that can spend a year or 2 before they get sold.
I had flooded batteries lasting 12 and 13 years. One member reports MB factory battery still running after 17 years.
You are the first one I heard about AGM lasting 9 years.

I have bought a Yuasa battery dry from the retailer.

My 9 year old AGM battery is still in service.

My flooded batteries only last 4 to 6 years. You have done exceedingly well with 12 & 13 years use in a vehicle?

Great news about how long the AGM batteries have lasted.
Thank you for the info.

Hello Kurtis,

Did it fail or was it planned maintenance?

Actually it was a moving sale when Advance Auto moved in with Carquest. All batteries were half price. Since my mine were 10+ years old I picked up the H8 for $96 and the Auxiliary for $56. So I replaced them early and saved big.
