C/E 4Matics on MB website
Just noted the MB website has finally reflected a 4Matic variant to these two vehicles ... a $2K package option for the C and a $2500 package option for the E. Thought these would be seperate models with their own spec's, but apparently not the case.

The 4Matics show under sedans on the MBZ official site. Where did you see the reference to a coupe, especially an E550 coupe?
Thanks

Do not believe there was ever any talk about the E550 coupe being offered with 4Matic. Here is a savescreen from the MB website which for the first time reflects the existence of the 4Matic, but shows it as a 'package' and not as a seperate model. Same thing can be found for the C350C4.

4Matic
As best I can see MBUSA only offers 4Matic in the Coupe as well.

I have a buddy who is a former MB dealership mechanic, he isn't a fan of the 4Matic. Says there are often problems with the transfer case and the repairs are very expensive.
That said, I was at his shop the other day and met a guy with an E sedan, 4Matic, bought it new and it has 273K miles on it. The transfer case went out at 20K (replaced under warranty) and has been fine ever since.

My car is coming up for an annual service in 35 days at about 56000 km which is about where it seems problems occur.
It has been on the road 4 yr now so I am doing a transmission service 4000 km early and we will closely examine the filter and troll the fluid with a magnet for metal.Warranty expiration occurs 2 days after this service.
I appreciate the head up I got from those who spoke to the issue on this forum. Thanks.
