BMW 535 vs the Sun, the Moon and the Stars
Hi all, new member here!
I've been reading as a guest this forum for some time and helped me decide going back to Mercedes after a few years (1997 ML & 2001 ML).
I had been more of a BMW type, having had my fair share of them (1994 325is, 1995 325iC, 2007 328 coupe, 2011 535 and 2012 535 M-sport).
Have to admit that I LOVED my M-sport 535 and thought that I would not change it for anything... except for the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. And that is exactly what I got!
And as much as I enjoyed the 535, I am extremely happy with the E350. This car rides beautifully. Has more than enough power that I don't miss the 535, has a beautiful interior (BIG upgrade from the pre-facelift) and very elegant lines. Of course, the color combination is killer, as a classic Mercedes with Iridium Silver exterior and red interior.
But the best part is, of course, pushing a button and 20 seconds later, have the best 4-passenger open air vehicle this side of 100K.
And I can't go before saying that the full-LED Intelligent Lighting is nothing short of spectacular.
Yes, I miss a couple of things from my BMW, such as the heads-up display or the Premium Sound (HK Logic-7 is very close, but not yet as good) and the Office integration (but on this car, who want's to be reminded of work...?).
One thing I DON'T miss is having to deal with the intensive care needed to keep the Carbon Black looking good. Iridium Silver looks clean and shiny weeks at a time, and no swirls to be found anywhere. Maybe MB has harder paint than BMW? And the NAV, is 100x better and smarter than the BMW version. No comparison.
I look forward to participating in this community.
So here are some pics of the new baby!

Great exterior interior combo...! I have had my 2014 E 350 Cab for 2 months now and love it. I traded a really awesome 335d 2011 for my E Cab, and I do miss the torque a little bit, but this car is so fun to drive and looks so good that the feeling of missing the bimmer doesn't last long.

However, there is a better "... 4-passenger open air vehicle this side of 100K" and that would be an E550 Cab. For only a few thousand more one gets the incredible V8BT engine and better suspension and brakes. I drive our E350 and E550 back-to-back all the time and there is just no comparison. The 350 is truly great indeed but the 550 is jaw-dropping fun.

I had the premium sound on the 535 (whatever system it was in 2012) and that was AWESOME. The HK on the E350 is very good. The base on the 535 was deep and powerful; the one on the MB is, well, mmmm... adequate.

And to top it off, there isn't anything better available even if you pay silly money (like you can in the 5 and 6 series).
The E-class HK also lacked the 7-band EQ that the BMWs have. Not that I think it is that useful, but still. What do we pay for "Premium 1"?

I'm an audio gearhead and find the HK audio in the E series to be fine for most audio sources I use... until you engage the Logic 7 surround. Then everything sounds like you spent a weekend at the bottom of a big deep well!
