turning rotors
can we resurface our e550 coupe rotors? or do should we get new rotors when time for new brakes.
when i had my bmw the shops would recommend not to turn bmw rotors cause they are so soft and might warp. was wondering if its the same thing with our cars.
thanks!

I would never reface a rotor, better to buy new when pads next need replacing. I work on two sets of pads to one rotor. The more powerful the car the stronger the brakes need to be, you can measure the thickness of the rotors to see if you could get 3 sets of pads from one set of rotors, always safety first!!!!!
What people do not realise is that the rears can wear as fast as the fronts, due to traction control etc.....

Unless the rotors are gouged, there generally is no need to turn them down.
You can reface them if you do not go below a certain thickness. Any brake shop will have those specs.
Also, if your rotors are cross-drilled, continuous heat cycling can cause cracks. Check for that if you have those rotors.
