Weird Thing -2014 E550 Coupe
Went to start up my 2014 E550 couple today after being in the garage for 4 days. Get in push the button the car starts right away and was running really rough. Smoke billowing out of the back that had a strange smell to it..wasn't oil, not fuel..can't really describe it. Then after about 20 seconds, the check engine light comes on. So...I shut off the car. i wait 30 seconds and then restart and everything was back to normal. No more check engine light. Called the dealer and they said to bring it in if it happens agan, hopefully the code was stored in the computer, Any thoughts?

My thoughts are take it in now! Get that code checked
I never had that happen to any of my e550's and it sounds like a oxygen or maf sensor problem

Yeah, outside of that code, unless they did a complete inspection of the car, you may not know what happened. It's not normal, obviously, and for them to brush it off is strange. They should at least have offered to have you bring the car in to pull the code for peace of mind.
Good luck Kirkster!

Thanks for the reply back. I think what answer you get depends on who you talk to when you call the dealer. Someone else might have had me tow it in. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again. If it does, it goes to the dealer straight away.

Strange indeed. Glad it hasn't reoccurred. I've been enjoying the car a lot lately. Especially with the very nice weather we had this past weekend in Houston. mid 60s to 70s. The engine, and the open cabin loves it!

It's a whopping 20 degrees here in MN right now. I've been driving mine only when it's dry this winter, which is not too often.
