CTSV, 335 vert
need advice: E400 Cab - sport package or not?

The wife is moving from a BMW335 vert to an E400 vert. She's concerned that the E is not sporty enough but thinks the firmer springs/shocks with the sport package make the car to bumpy/jiggly over rough pavement. We live in Dallas and this will be her daily driver so she will be traveling rough roads daily.

She's only been able to test drive E400s with the sport package as there are no "base" E400 Cabs in the area available to test drive.

She likes the adjustable suspension on the E550 cab but thinks its not as nimble , too powerful (she's trained herself to stomp on the gas pedal in her 335) and would get her in trouble. She likes the E400 engine and the cars lighter feel but she thinks she'll get tired of the bumpy ride real fast.

Questions:

(1) If you have an E350/400 cab without the sport package - do you wish you had it? Is the car too cushy/boat-like on the curves or is it just right? How does the steering feel (tight enough)?

(2) If you have an E350/400 cab with the sport package - Is the ride too firm as a daily driver? Do you find that going over rough road it rattles the car apart?

Thank you for your help. She wants to order the this week for a Sept. ED.

Mercedes E350 CD Iridium silver convertible 2010
The sports ride is not as firm as the BMW, and is marginally harder than the non sport. A very simple way to alter the ride at order is to ensure that you do not order the 19" wheels, go for the 18" and softer still the 17", which is the smallest you can go......all of these do not affect the road holding but soften the ride.
I have the AMG sport package which came with 18" wheels, I also have a set of 17" wheels (for winter use), they are not as attractive as the 18" but to be honest I much prefer the ride quality, especially on poor road surfaces.
The smaller wheels do not look out of place on the car as many smaller wheels do!!!!
The way a Mercedes rides over the road is completely different to BMW in the area of feel, the BMW kind of sits on the road surface whereas the Mercedes seems to ride over the road surface, these are quite distinct differences in feel !!!!!!!
