ECU and TCU questions for A207

I have a '12 E550 that I want to flash the ECU and want to gain around 80-100 HP.

Q1- who do u recommend for me to talk to? About how much should I expect to spend?

Q2- do I have to do a TCU upgrade? What's the benefit?

Q3- would there be a noticeable difference if I only upgrade the ECU instead of both?

Q4- what's the best radar detector these days to keep me from my losing my license after the upgrades??

Thanks in advance for ur help.

Between Kleeman and Eurocharged, I'm leaning towards Kleeman. Good choice??
I liked Renntech but the cost is too high for me.
Thank you.

Mercedes E350 CD Iridium silver convertible 2010
Hi ! I see you have black trim, did this comes as standard or have you have it done?
I ask because the long chrome strip on my rear panel where the rear window of the soft top closes onto to seal, has lots of hazing in it that is under the lacquer and cannot be polished out.
Mercedes refused to take responsibility when it was under warranty, mostly because that strip is very expensive and I was told it is quite involved process to remove//// thanks

I had all of the trim painted black. I'm not sure what it's called, but it is removable and supposedly will hold up.
I didn't wrap it because I was told since I live in DC metro and the weather fluctuates A LOT, the wrap would stretch and not look good after a few months.

There is no TCU upgrade for the vehicle the remapped ecu will make the overall drive feel better. I would recommend going with KLEEMANN i have the catless downpipes and the tune. It is amazing!

Weistec is another viable option as well

Hmm I just noticed the Weistec 722.9 Valve Body upgrade. It seems a little over priced. Has any one done this before?

Do any of those flashes give you a "M" (mechanical) mode for the transmission? I heard that works but I have no specifics.

My car came with a sport mode and an M button that allows your to use the paddle shifters, and select the gears.

Are you sure that is the actual "M" mode? In most Mercedes except the AMGs it will then still freely switch between 1-3 if you set it to 3, and it will reset after a while.

The "M" mode in AMGs and some very new non-AMGs sticks with just one gear as long as it can.

I just looked into Weistec and although their numbers are impressive, I'm not impressed with the $2550 number!!
Why do these tunes cost so much??
I was hoping to find a tune under $1500 but I'm not having much luck!

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Kamtrac, contact Kleemann they have tuned several bi turbo e550s and are around the price you are looking for.

Squid you are correct, did not realize that is what you meant with the trans holding the gear for as long as it can.

That is one costly trans updrade...I wonder if anyone has done it.

I just sent my ECU to Eurocharged for upgrade. Hoping to have it installed this Thursday and opening her up that night! Good thing my radar detector was delivered today!
