Hardwired Radar Detector Notes for E Cabriolet
I assume this will work for the coupe and sedans as well.
Use an invisicord or "mirrorwire" from performancepackage.com for the power.
Pop of the mirror surround that's attached to the windshield. It snaps onto four clips - two on top and two on the bottom. Use your fingers or a plastic tool to pop off.
There's a small 3-wire plug in the middle of all the stuff there (I don't know what all this is) that has a red/black, purple/white, and brown wire. The red/black wire is positive and the brown wire is negative/ground. Power only comes on when the car ignition is in "run" (accessory mode does not power this line). When the car is turned off, power remains to this line for a minute but the car eventually shuts power down.
No need to "notch" the plastic surround for the wire, it doesn't fit flush to the window so there is room for the power wire.
