New to me- 2010 E550 c....questions...

Hello,

First timer here....coming from long time BMW ownership and trying to get my bearings in this forum. I've just purchased a 2010 E550 c Sport and I like it, but it is missing something. I have some questions for you guys- some stock questions and some modification. I'm seeing some stark differences in opinion when it comes to modifications vs. the BMW boards, so I get it if it isn't your thing, but it is not new to me and I enjoy modifying my cars. Motorsports is my background and I have modified each of my cars in some way to make it mine. Enough about that...

Anyway, I am finding it difficult to find many aftermarket companies for mods. I have seen a few mentioned several times on the board- is there a sticky or a list of approved or recommended mod companies? That would be helpful. Thanks.

I'll fire away and if you can help or point me somewhere I would appreciate it;

Stock

1- Stock subwoofer- is there one? If so, how can I get to it? I'm guessing mine either doesn't have one or it is blown.
2- Engineering Codes- I found a helpful set of instructions to turn on BT, and in the process found other codes that look interesting. Before I just go ***** nilly into turning them on, does anyone know anything about these other functions and if they perform any functions?
3- Brake pad replacement- is there a write-up somewhere? Curious if there are any particular things to pay attention to? Ex. My S6 (only Audi I've ever had) had electric rears and you could ruin them if you didn't pull the fuse before spreading the caliper.

Mods

3- Spacers- on my M5 I had 15mm all around and it looked good, IMO. I have read a few comments saying 20mm might be too wide. Does anyone have an informed opinion of this or photos?
4- Air intake- I have literally only seen 3 options; 1- K&N (ad nauseum), 2- AEM, 3-someone who made their own. I'm not adverse to making my own or having a shop of mine do a nice custom setup, but I'm curious if there are other options out there.
5- Resonator delete- is this worth doing? I know it can be a cheap mod. I had straight pipes on my M5 and it sounded amazing at just about any RPM. If you have done either straight pipes or resonator delete can you please tell me what noticeable sound differences you experienced?
6- Lowering springs- I want to lower about 1-1.25". Can you give me your experience if you have done this? What brand did you go with? Did you choose a particular weight or style?
7- ECU- again, not seeing very many options for ECU tuning. Anyone have experience you can share? Where did you get it done and what is your opinion?
8- Shift paddles- does anyone make aftermarket for these? They are really small and plastic. Gotta go...

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have. I know there are links to threads in the searches for some of this, but I'm really interested in getting to know this board and some users who have experience with this car.

I'm in Atlanta. Good to be here,

SpeedAgent

2014 E550 Coupe and 2010 E350 Sedan
Hey SpeedAgent, welcome to the forum. For the 2010 coupe, you should be able to find a few things, but not nearly the amount of mods for an M5. If you were talking about an E63 or something, maybe the mod market is larger. You should have a decent amount of mods available for the 2010 model though.

On to your list though, and the ones I can kind of speak to:

Spacers - I am aftermarket so I'm not sure.
Resonator delete - is definitely worth it. I have zero bad things to say about it.
Springs - I used H&R sport springs. I like the drop, but wish the front was a little lower, or the rear higher. I heard the Eibachs are pretty good too.
ECU - I'm only aware of OE tuning and Eurocharged. I think maybe Renntech, Carlsson, Kleeman have tunes as well? I received the OE tune and it is amazing. I have the 4.7 Biturbo engine though. Pretty sure their NA v8 engine tune is awesome too.

I completely agree with SnakeDoctor on the resonator delete and the ECU tune. Two of the best (and easiest) mods for the E550 Coupe.

Also, welcome!

This will probably be my next modification (Air Intake):

Other feedback:
Instead of spacers on the OEM wheels, why not just get aftermarket wheels with appropriate offsets to get the aggressive look you desire? You can also up-size the wheels and the tires (I run 255/35-19 Front and 285/30-19 Rear) which definitely makes the E-Coupe look better.

Lowering springs: lots of options for our coupes - H&R, Eibach, Vogtland

There are options to replace the Paddle Shifters, I've seen E-Coupes with the AMG Paddle Shifters (likely from the E63 AMG Sedan).

Good luck! Post pics!

Thanks, Guys! I'm installing the spacers this weekend and I'll post before and after photos.
