2012 E Coupe Transmission doesn't engage
I started the car this morning and moved the shift lever to Reverse and there is no engagement, moved it to Drive and the same thing happened, the lever is nice and tight, no sloppiness in it's movement however there is no feeling of engagement into gear at all. The car has only 24,800 miles
and MB serviced regularly.
I turned off the engine and restarted the car and now it's working properly,
could it be a software or mechanical issue, thank God I have 3 yrs left on my Mercedes extended warranty.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I'm pretty sure there is no mechanical linkage connecting the shifter to the tranny.
You most likely had a software issue. On mine, there is undue delay shifting between forward and reverse and vise versa.

Thanks, my local MB service advisor has never experienced this condition and mentioned that a software update maybe in order, it's only happened once and if does it again to bring it in.

From my understanding, there is a direct linkage for the coupe since it's a floor shift and not the column shift, I'd take it into MB to get it checked just in case though.

I think you're right, there is a DIY to replace the shifter replacement bushing on this model but I highly doubt that the bushing is worn out with 24xxx miles, there is no sloppiness on the lever at all, it hasn't happened since that one time occurrence so I'll just keep an eye on it for now.
