Tire pressure not available.

I bought my CPO 2014 E550 Coupe about a week ago and I've seen this message pop up twice now and the tire warning light glows Amber. I press ok and it goes away. Any idea what could be causing this?

Exactly! Take the car back to the dealership asap. They should be willing to repair whatever is wrong at no cost to you.

Me too

My passenger front TPMS sensor randomly says missing had the dealer replace the sensor under warranty but even the new one does it. The dealer blames my Kicker 1000.5 class d amp but even with the amp completely turned off it does it. I also had car toys install Ferrite caps/clamps on the amp install which fix EMI issues if it was the amp but still will come on randomly. Also I had the two front tires moved side to side but still is only on the passenger side.

The way to prove or disprove the what the MB dealership says about your Kicker amp interfering with your TPMS sensor is to temporarily unplug all the power connections to the amp. This way, unlike simply shutting the amp off or attempting to minimize or block stray EMI pulses, you have completely eliminated any possible EMI emissions as the potential suspect. No power flowing into the Kicker amp means it can't be generating any sort of random EMI emissions.

Leave the amp completely unplugged for a week to see if any of the random TPMS sensor faults still occur. If they don't then you've found the cause of your problem. If they do, then go back to the MB dealer and explain how you've eliminated your Kicker amp as the trouble source.

Hope this helps.

Tire sensors are read in via radio, microprocessor (evaluates input) and central antenna are integrated in TPM control unit. Except for external interference only other part to consider replacing is TPM control unit.

You should still take the car back to have them check out the TPMS system.

I took it in yesterday. They are fixing a popping noise in the panoramic roof, replacing the rear brake rotors and pads and the timing chain tensioner all under warranty.

They looked at the TPMS but I'm not sure if they found anything. At least I'm on record as reporting it. Hoping to get my car back today. Not happy at all with the C300 loaner they gave me.

At least they are fixing some other items under warranty and they now have the TPMS issue entered into their maintenance tracking system for your car. That is useful should the problem reoccur.

Yeah I hear you regarding some of the loaner cars they give us. I usually only use the loaner long enough to get me back home and then I just use one of my other cars until MB calls to say my car is ready for pick-up. Then I just drive the loaner back.

Light came on again tonight on the freeway. I cycled through the menu and it wasn't reading the pressure on the right front tire so I think it's the sensor on that wheel. Once I came to a stop it reset and started reading that wheel again.

Agreed. Sensor is intermittent and should be changed.

cant you just be thankful that they gave you a loaner instead of just showing you the way out? its not like you have to drive it for weeks.

Would have preferred the E350 they gave my wife when she took our CLS in last time.

I am taking it in tomorrow to have the TP sensor replaced.

By the way, I've gotten loaners from Ducati overnight on many occasions... which is why I currently own a Multistrada actually.

Well, the dealer replaced the right front wheel sensor and this morning on my drive in to work the TPMS error came up again and it is not picking up the right front wheel pressure.

Back to the dealer next week I guess...

Tonight it was the left front wheel it didn't read. I was able to get to the readout before it cleared the error.

Car is going in tomorrow for the same problem. I asked if they could replace the control unit and the service writer said that would be no problem. Hoping this fixes it.

That's what the warranty is for. Let them troubleshoot the issue on their dime, not yours. :-)

It's just inconvenient dropping it off every week for them to troubleshoot. Of course, the sensors were functioning properly when I dropped it off this morning.

What was the symptom that caused the timing chain tensioner needing to be replaced? Seems like an odd and potentially severe item to fail in such a new engine.

It was just a little noisy. It didn't fail, but I'd rather have it replaced while still under warranty than a year or two down the road when it is even worse.

I have an update.

Dealer has had my car for 3 days now and tried recalibrating the control unit and test drove it extensively and found it still threw a no reading at the right front wheel sensor. They tried mounting the wheels on different corners and got the same error message, right front sensor. So, they going to replace the control unit.

I should have my car back tomorrow... which is good because I really don't care for the C300 they stuck me in.
