w207 rattling over pothole
seems this is quite common
on a road over a pothole or uneven road, it squeaks, rattle and it sounds like its from the back - not sure why. any suggestions?
nervous to take it to a mechanic who will look at it for hours and find nothing.
any thoughts?

Try the simple stuff first. Check out the tub that holds the jack, take it out for a test drive. That damn thing can make a lot of noise that you'd swear is coming from the back suspension. Also the cover for the second battery (if yours has one) can make what sounds like a noise from the shocks going over bumps. Ended up packing mine with some towels/shop rags to quiet it all down. Rear cargo floor can also make noise (take out and test drive easiest thing) - put some weatherstripping tape where it rests against the body. Aside from that, it could be sway bar links or ??? But that will take a bit more to figure out ($$) About 90% of funny noises from these and C class are from the "bucket" thing that holds the jack that screws into the spare tire - the design ends up acting like a big speaker and actually amplifies any noises or rattles from itself and the jack/tools.
