W207 facelift conversion headlight issue
Hi all,
I have done a facelift conversion on my 2012 e220 cabriolet however, I am really stuck on the headlights, i have taken the car to a number of electricians to try and get them powered up but they have all struggled. If anyone could please help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

This is the new one right ?
And this the old one ?
On the old one, was the low beam High Intensity Discharge or H7 halogen ? Also do you still have one of the old headllights ?

Yes right hand drive, yes the first was the new part number. They were xenon headlights so I assume high intensity discharge. I don't have the old headlights unfortunately

So as you can imagine the wires in the harness don't match the headlight. Before you had a low beam/high beam combo controlled by the ballast, now you have 2 circuits, one for low and one for high. The low beam circuit wire is there but connected to the wrong prong on the headlight. There is no high beam wire in your harness, but there is a prong on the headlight for it. There probably isn't anyone (outside hella and mercedes) that knows more about these headlights than I, and that doesn't include the very expensive dual led headlight of which I know nothing. At minimum, you have to swap the wire the is fat yellow on one side and yellow black on the other currently connected to pin 6 on the headlight to pin 4. Pin 6 on your new headlight is a dummy pin. This should get your low beams working from the switch, HOWEVER, you will get a message saying the low beam is out. You have to splice an H7 resistor in there to compensate for the resistance loss of the LED. In fact you'll get all kinds of messages I imagine, depending on if you had LED daytime running lights, or side markers that aren't on the new bumper. So at a minimum just to get on the road at night, you'll need to swap the wires I mentioned above. Sorry but you stepped into a CF.
