FS: 1972 Mercedes Benz 280CE 4 speed manual

I'm trying to get serious about selling some of my cars (seeing as I bought a bunch more recently). Some will know that i am in the middle of restoring a 73 280CE. I'm around 50% through fixing up that car, so I think that it's time to let this one go.

It's a 1972 Mercedes Benz 280CE. This has the M110 engine, but unlike the US models that use a carburetor, this one has D-Jetronic fuel injection and a 4 speed manual gearbox.

It was originally sold in Italy and then imported into the US.

I have driven this car every now and then and it starts and runs fine. I have had it out on the highway and it will get up to highway speeds with no problem and stays cool.

It does need lots of cosmetic work, especially to the interior. If i was to keep it, I would find a 250C or 280C and use the interior from it. The body is quite solid but it does have some rust here and there which can be easily fixed.

If you're familiar with how a W114 can rust, then you'll understand that it's not very often that you'll see a completely rust free car. This one isn't either, but it's all easily addressable.

The paint will shine up, but it does need a paint job. The engine can probably use a tune up and some regular cycles of fresh gas as I hardly drive it. It does have a recent fuel filter and oil change.

Tires have good tread but show signs of dry rot, I'd probably go around and replace the belts and hoses before I drive it on a regular bases.

The W114 280CE is a pretty rare car. I've only seen a handful of these injected versions in the US, and the only two 4 speeds that I know of are the two that I own. It does need work, but it's a running, driving car which makes it a solid foundation.

Price is $2750 (firm).

Here are a few pictures

Here is a youtube video of the engine running and a quick walk around the car.

72 280CE

For seriously interested parties, please PM with your contact information and i'll be happy discuss the car with you.

Thank you for your interest.

Still available?

Hello, Did you send this car last year? If not, I'd like to get additional information. Thanks...

Hello

I ended up abandoning my other 280CE project and dismantling that car. As a result, this car is no longer for sale as everybody needs at least one 280CE

Hey Al, there may be a 250C for dirt cheap nearby. About halfway between Dallas and my ranch where we had the GTG a few years ago. I'll stop and ask if interested.

Dan!

Not just yet, I have 20 cars and if I take one more on. I'll need to rent another storage unit.

FYI, remember the 87 560SEC that I had for sale in 2010? I just bought it back ,but sadly with a bad engine.

Interested in doing a diesel conversion?

Thanks

Al

Interesting... I just happen to know where there's a OM606.

Unfortunately, I'm also running out of covered space.

Yeah,I hear you. I also have a 91 560SEL which needs an engine. I really want to bring that car back to life so this one will become a parts car.
