Question '83 300SD Fuel Sender

My '83 300SD fuel guage stays on 3/4 full. How do I check the fuel level sender. Is it hard to replace?

You need a 46mm socket to remove it.
Take off the barrel by unscrewing the small nut on the bottom.
Be VERY careful when cleaning the wires, they are very fragile.
