W123 300D & 5-Speed Getrag Transmission Question
I have a friend who owns a W123 300D with a 4-speed manual transmission here in the US. He wants to change it to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Since the 5-speed manual Getrag was never sold on the W123 in the US, he has located a 5-speed Getrag in Europe; and it is complete with all shift linkage and the drive shaft. However, it does not include the adapter plate between the motor and the tranny.
The question is what adapter plate is necessary between the 5-speed Getrag transmission and the OM617 motor? Would anyone happen to know if the adapter plate between an M110 motor and the 5-speed Getrag transmission will work?
Would you happen to have a Part Number? TIA!

You indicated that he is a friend--text him and ask for the VIN!!
The only info we know is that the 5 speed(717.400) complete transmission part number is 123 260 20 01 with a transmission case number of 000 260 09 11.
Based upon my EPC research, I am witholding comments untill you also use EPC to make and post a determination!!
Some assumptions---someone understands the role of the differential in a drive train
---someone has investigated the musts of rebuilding a getrag

My friend is not Internet active and did not have direct access to his car, which explains the delay.
The VIN for the potential receiver car is: 123.130.10.092090
I tried to find the adapter plate in the EPC, but had no success. Let me know what you think.

I am absolutely dumbfounded that your friend would enter into a complicated project as this and not understand a simple alpha numeric VIN---FYI the number you suplied is not the vehicles VIN.
In any event I have spent to much time with bad information---like you say you have access to EPC, and the answer is within EPC!!

No further assistance from someone with your attitude is needed. Wiederschauen, Arschloch. Hoffentlich niemals wieder!
