Rocker Panel Rustproofing Wear

It appears that on one of the rocker panels on my 300D, the rustproofing stuff over the paint (which must have been factory-applied) is wearing. See picture.

This is unsightly.

To fix, should I just wash it, dry it, rub it with a tack cloth and spray it with spray paint? I have purchased some Krylon Rust Tough Rust Preventative Enamel in an aerosol can.

Helpful comments would be appreciated. Thanks...

Rubberized undercoating works better. Be sure to tape off the panels above, that stuff splatters and its a major pain to remove from paint.

I bought 2 cans of this. Would this be better?

Amazon.com: 3M 03584 Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating - 16 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: 3M 03584 Professional Grade Rubberized Undercoating - 16 oz.: Automotive

I plan to wash the rocker panels, dry them, wash them again, dry them again, then use a tack cloth - then spray this on.

Helpful ideas, suggestions and further recommendations are welcome. I want to make sure everything looks stock when I'm finished.

Thanks guys...

That stuff is fine. You don't need to overthink it. Wash it and let it dry, then spray.

Nobody but you is going to care what it looks like on the bottom of your car. Black is black.

Wear gloves while spraying, the nozzle WILL drip on your fingers and once its dry it will stay in the fingerprint valleys of your hand for days.
