Saying hello from across the pond

Hello well I'm a newbie to Mercedes-I'm normally obsessed with my VW's and picked a very tidy 300e after my VW broke on me again.
Shes a 300e with AMG suspension and alloys which also has a Mosselmann TwinTurbo conversion-does anyone know anything about this company?
-As I can't really find much-any advice much appreciated
what do you think? will try and post betterpic's up tomo

and my little Vw that I will get fixed

***** Mosselman did quite a few twin turbo kits for the M103 and M104 I-6 engines.
Company still exists ( www.mosselmanturbo.com ), but no longer supports or services the older installs.
I believe Mosselman is no longer associated with the company.
Published figures on a M103 was about 300HP and equivalent torque at the crankshaft.
Ask away and you should receive answers on any query you might have

Thanks for all the positive commemnts-She was one of those "i'll go have a look but won't fall in love straight away purchases"-and I fell in love straight away.
@RBYCC-what engine managment is your coupe running? also what turbo chargers does it use?

also
mgw_300e MkI Rabbits FTMFW!!!!!! -what doe that mean the FTWFW?-It's A MK2 polo-not a rabbit -I'm not sure if you had these as they would probably too slow for your freeways/but saying that you did get the 1300cc rabbit.

The TurboTechnics M103-12V install is actually a British product.
Kits produced by TurboTechnics in the early 90's were sold/installed by MB dealer "Hughes of Beaconsfield", on new cars.
Hughes recently began selling their kits in old inventory for 1000 sterling which included a complete large bore twin 2" diameter SS exhaust system.

It uses twin Garrett T2 turbos fixed @ .48bar boost and has a piggyback fuel management system that controls two additional injectors mounted between the air valve and the throttle body.

The supplied electronics are non-adjustable and in theory pulsed the additional injectors under boost and at the same time retarded the timing.
Didn't make sense, so measured AFR under boost and it approached 1.2 lambda which is very lean.

Took the supplied unit off and replaced it with a Split Second Additional Injector Controller which has a built in MAP sensor.
This unit is 3D mappable via a lap top.
Ended up with AFR's around .85 lambda under boost conditions.
Picked up additional 10 rwhp on the dyno by just making this tuning change.

Your Mosselman also has an piggy back fuel controller and it is adjustable.
Mosselman didn't believe in additional injectors so the piggyback controller worked the EHA to provide more fuel to the six injectors.

Other difference is Mosselman intercooler located on top of the throttle body against the hood.
TurboTechnics intercooler is mounted on the lower passenger chassis rail (UK Driver/exhaust side) paralell to the engine and in the air stream.

My installer was the "man" for the early Mosselman installs in the USA.
Performance wise he gives a slight edge to the TurboTechnics due to a higher efficiency intercooler location

Whats EHA?

Do you know anything about it's adjustabilty?

Should be going on a rolling road in the next month to find out how it's running

Also i've been told these wheels are fairly rare-i really want to mirror polish the outers so they look there best.
I'm planning to buy some replicas as spares but not the split rim type

Here some better pictures
I have some questions for RBYCC as his knowledge seems to be superb

My car tends have some trouble starting recently-It starts then dies,I think it could be over fueling.-how can i tell if it is?

Also I read i another post that you changed you piggyback management for an aftermarket setup with 3d mapping.I would like to do this aswell as the car seems to hold back sometimes(but could also be due to overfuelling).-I take it it was a worthwhile investment-can you change the carateristics of how the turbos come onto boost ??

anyway heres some better pics after I got some later rear lights-just have to get the side indicators now

Thanks, That is one super looking W124....you found a nice one !!!

Could be as basic as the fuel pump and or OVP relay which will allow a start and run but will die if it doesn't receive a speed signal from the tach circuitry (green/yellow wire)

Your Mosselman setup has an adjustable piggy back controller, you might want to check the existing settings.

The piggy back unit controller that I used is intended to fire the two additional injectors that TurboTechnics uses for fuel enrichment.

Would do no good unless you have additional injectors.

ha this was one of my first posts - I've learnt so much since joining

vili1982- just for you

after some paint and new hose's

little vid

been making a list of bit's I need to get to make it A1
It's not fueling correctly at the mo so going to use the Split Second AIC1 as recommended by RBYCC.
I've also contacted Turbo Technics to get them to remanufacture the injector assembly from there M103kits as this will solve all issues to do with fuel and boost.
got her a set of summer rims to refurbover winter

front wheels

rear wheels

hopefully by January it will all be sorted

Mosselman 190E 16V+ C63S+ Abarth 595
wow a manual Mosselman powered 300E with Recaro C classics in mint condition. This car is absolutely stunning. Does it have a getrag manual tranny or a regular manual tranny? What does it have for a diff? By the triangle I am assuming ASD. Being in the UK you should be able to find a 190E 16V limited slip diff fairly easy.

thanks for the nice comments! It's been a drawn out process getting her to the stage shes @ now but it's well worth it .Now just love just driving it but theres still niggly bit's to do-tow eye cover and new original grille ,washer jets
I'm not sure what gearbox it has but it is geared perfectly and has no issues.
Transmission code from the build sheet is 717430 01 144968 is this just a normal one?
diff is 211 ASD according to the build sheet .What are tha advantages of the 190E 16v diff?
For some reason some of the codes on the on the build sheet say unknown is there way to find out what the codes are? there are a few ;286, 362 , 507, 586 , 071A ,238 ,412 929
She's is abit of a halfbreed now-Mostly Mosselman but with TurboTechnics injector set up . So now it's a Motechnics , or Turboman or Techmo or....whatever she goes better than ever and there is still tweeking to do
The interior was one of the reasons I brought the car

^I really should have taken the pic's AFTER hoovering it
Put the original steering wheel back on as the other one was scary @ speed but still looking for a diffrerent one period one.

Couple other randoms
