The product sold on Ebay is a joke, more or less, he buys the parts from other sellers and puts those kits together, he has no dyno charts to back up any claims. Furthermore, he knowledge of Mercedes or any other cars is minimal at best.
You can do what AMG did on the M103, which was to add an additional air intake tube to the factory box, route it around the exhaust manifold and either draw air from the grill area or from the engine mount air inlet. AMG used both locations.
This option utilizes a 400E headlight cover
This intake system is routed down to the engine mount intake
Another intake on M103 this time
One more M103 air intake
Another M103 intake
Given that AMG did use this design on the M103 and M104 motors and it is indeed a true cold air intake, I would stick to this type of design if I were you.

I bought one of thsoe from eBay for my W201, 2.3 8V.
But I have to be honest, it made a big difference with that little engine. It pushed more than it did with the stock/oem intake.
This is a one time use on a W201 2.3 8V.
I tried to fabricate one on my W124 M104... forget it, F's up the electronics, the MAF sensor, the tempurature, and the fuel economy.
If you want to do something like this stick to either NOS, a TT Kit, or nothing else. These engines are well designed on it's own. Messing with the a none approved kit is a waste of time money, and damages the cars performance.
Keep on Drivin'~

- It was a lot less bulkier, more condessed.
- Noticeable performance was similar to a chip'd ECU.
- Improved performance on Top-speed, from 95 to 110
- Accelleration was a bit improved, but sometimes sluggish on lower gears.
- Noticeable improvement on fuel mixture problems from before. It passed smog with it on, than without it.
- But, there is one major drawback... GAS CONSUMPTION!!!

If AMG used this design on the cars they built, then that would be good enough for me. I doubt any of us here are in any position to question a known authority on how to hot rod a MB.

lots of cars
berti...
may I suggest a high temp clear and on plastic use adhesion promoter.
About cold air intakes....
I have the same vw rabbit boot and i made an intake too but it's just too dirty for the engine and it's not that good anyways.
As a hot rodder mustang/camaros, well let me tell you that there are better options for more power than a cold air intake. If you just want it for looks then buy the one on ebay. If you want more power i suggest you install a fuel management system and tune the engine on the dyno. Something like that will give you way more power but you will always have to spend more $$ on stuff like that. There is no replacement for displacement.

lots of cars
any store that sell engine paint should have clear......try to apply the paint in very thin coats and then the clear. I would also go over it with 3m rubbing compound and 2500 grit sandpaper to make it look really nice...

The metal intakes on the M119 motor are nothing but bling and do not increase air flow or performance. In fact, it probably hurts performance, as the aluminum heats up and retains heat much more than the insulated plastic tubes that are stock on the M119.
On the 500e and E60 AMG version of the 500e, the only change AMG made to the air intake system was the actual airbox, but comparisons between the non-AMG airbox and AMG air box showed that the internal volumes were the same and the only real difference was the addition of a AMG emblem.

I was looking in the EPC last night for some air intake parts and came across the M104 air intake (like in the first picture of my previous post on this topic) and it indeed is available from MB with the 2nd air intake duct already in place.
Nice upgrade for any owners of the M104 motor.

I will list the part numbers tonight. If you want to suck air from the passenger side headlight, you would need that setup from a 400e as well (like shown in my first posted picture)

Throttle response is noticeably increased as well as my ability to pass the emissions test. The sporty growl tops off the reward from such a project.

AMG M104 airbox part numbers
hwa 104 094 02 02 airbox
hwa 104 094 01 82 airbox additional air intake hose
No other parts are listed, so I don't know exactly what the hose connects to, I would follow the design in the picture I posted previously.
