Alarm System drains battery....

Anybody here have any ideas about this....

Whenever I plug in the alarm it drains my battery and makes a screeching noise from under the passenger carpet where the plugs are.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't know anything about the alarm system. I'd like to have the alarm functional again if possible as I have to park the car on the side of the street now as the appartment complex issued me a warning because of my oil pan leaks. (gonna fix that over new years)

If it is screeching and draining the battery I would say that its shot and would just replace it. You can get them cheaply on eBay. The 201, 124 and 126 alarm's are interchangeable.

Here's one

Even with the TE models? I don't see TE listed on the page.

Can I be sure that replacing it will cure the problem or could it be anything else? Any ways to test the current one with a DVOM?

Plugged it back in today and I was wrong it was not a screetching noise its a ticking noise. It sounds exactly like an indicator and it ticks constantly.

You think its the unit?

The ticking is one of the relays in it. There are three, one for the headlights, one for the parking lights and one for the horn. Are any of the exterior lights flashing when it ticks?

I just want to clarify -- Even though it has Becker AutoRadio on it -- This is the Anti-Theft alarm right?

I got a picture from the Mercedes manual and it shows the brake pedal with the alarm.....I just want to make sure I'm not looking at the wrong unit! Mine is under the passenger seat carpet.

Just to update -- Went to the junkyard and nabbed an alarm from a 87 300E.

Plugged her in -- No ticking!!
Plugged alarm horn terminal back in.

Feel more comfortable leaving it on the street now Awesome $4.99 fix
