The two lightest rims I have ever come across are the first clk 320 rims for the very early models that are polished aluminum and the first of the n/a s600 rims for the 220 chassis, also polished. The clk rim is a 16" and the s600 was a 17" both are pretty ugly but super light.

Haha, I like that they are light, but ....they are ugly.....?
I don't know which rims you are talking about. I guess I have to look for it. What is the weight of them? Do you remember?
I've had rims(16" range) on my previews cars and they are all less than 20lbs, like BBS....
This is my first benz and it seems like most of MB owners go with stock rims or amg. I hardly see MB with after market rims. but what do I know.
I kind of think that BBS RS II or even LX will look good on w124...

The reason why you don't see so many Mercedes with aftermarket rims is mostly because there are few cars that use the 5X112 bolt pattern used by Mercedes.
Audi does. And VW. But they are mostly front drive vehicles with different offset requirements for the wheels.

Thanks for the info, neanderthal&rusher.
Hum....evo rims are rare and very expesnive, correct?
I want to upgrade my rims later, but I don't want to stress shocks, brakes and stuff due to the heavy weight of bigger rims...so I am just researching about rims that weight less and look good
Monoblock looks nice, but most of MB that modded have them...I was wondering whether there are other oem or amg rims that lighter than monoblock.

Damn, new evo rims for $1400?? That is pretty good deal....I should move to Germany lol.
I think BBS CH will look nice on w124...but I have never seen the combination, so I don't know...
I think I can get 17x7.5 amg monoblock rims that from c36...do you guys know the weight of the rim? I know, I know, I want to get after market rims, but I have to wait till the tax return.

Those wheels on the wagon above are very light. I had them on my W124 and I was very surprised when I removed them from the car. I'm not very fond of the looks, but I am considering returning to them. They are surely under 20 lbs.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I don't think the CLK rim exists in 17" or 18" applications. If it did, I'd probably have a set by now :P I too am very interested in the lightest OEM 17" rim.

Once you get into 17 inch and up you are easily in the over 25 pound per wheel. My AMG Monoblock II's were a major load on my 107 at 53 pounds with tires.
Remember there are a lot of considerations made when the factory decides on a wheel. Load, inertia, unsprung weight and many other equations in physics.
