The two lightest rims I have ever come across are the first clk 320 rims for the very early models that are polished aluminum and the first of the n/a s600 rims for the 220 chassis, also polished. The clk rim is a 16" and the s600 was a 17" both are pretty ugly but super light.

Thanks for the info.

Haha, I like that they are light, but ....they are ugly.....?
I don't know which rims you are talking about. I guess I have to look for it. What is the weight of them? Do you remember?
I've had rims(16" range) on my previews cars and they are all less than 20lbs, like BBS....
This is my first benz and it seems like most of MB owners go with stock rims or amg. I hardly see MB with after market rims. but what do I know.
I kind of think that BBS RS II or even LX will look good on w124...

I think the 7,5x17 EVO rim from W201&R170 should be quiet light.
And the design is awesome for W124.

The reason why you don't see so many Mercedes with aftermarket rims is mostly because there are few cars that use the 5X112 bolt pattern used by Mercedes.

Audi does. And VW. But they are mostly front drive vehicles with different offset requirements for the wheels.

Thanks for the info, neanderthal&rusher.
Hum....evo rims are rare and very expesnive, correct?
I want to upgrade my rims later, but I don't want to stress shocks, brakes and stuff due to the heavy weight of bigger rims...so I am just researching about rims that weight less and look good
Monoblock looks nice, but most of MB that modded have them...I was wondering whether there are other oem or amg rims that lighter than monoblock.

There is a set of Evo II rims on ebay but its about 1.4k USD. Not too bad considering how amazing they look on the w124 and w201.

That translates to about 1.3K USD, right? Do you know of any used sets (preferably 5 rims)?

yes, I have seen replicas in 18" with 5 spokes, which look damn hot.
But I dunno where to buy them
I think they are from Japan.

CLK

I think these are the CLK wheels he's talking about. They're 16 not the best looking but its ok. (got em cheap and def an improvement on stock.

Those wheels on the wagon above are very light. I had them on my W124 and I was very surprised when I removed them from the car. I'm not very fond of the looks, but I am considering returning to them. They are surely under 20 lbs.

wow 14lbs, that's pretty light!!
I'm thinking either I go with 17" or 18", but 18" light rims are going to be very expensive.

I don't think the CLK rim exists in 17" or 18" applications. If it did, I'd probably have a set by now :P I too am very interested in the lightest OEM 17" rim.

the forged rims from w220 and w221 are quiet light, too.

for example this one:

I think you nail it with sticking to 17s and 18s. The lightest OEM wheels were made by Fuch. They range in the 11 pound region, are forged and amazingly strong but only 14 inch. It shouldn't be lost that early Porshe 15 inch wheels are essentially the same wheel but different design. After that the E class 16 inches foot the same bill.
Once you get into 17 inch and up you are easily in the over 25 pound per wheel. My AMG Monoblock II's were a major load on my 107 at 53 pounds with tires.

Remember there are a lot of considerations made when the factory decides on a wheel. Load, inertia, unsprung weight and many other equations in physics.
