Stunning! Unique bodykit, special colour and sexy shinning rims (19"?). Are the wheel too wide for the car - no rubbing, I hope. Does the 2.0L I4 engine deliver sufficient power? The CE-Cabriolet is probably heavier than the 4-door sedan.

wheela 17 inch but wide and thats the reason for this image ...
Yes there are pretty wide but the car has AirRide system so when i`m rolling i lift it .
The 2.0 engine delivers 136 hp and it`s pretty slow but when i want to drive fast i chose the other one ... I have an W210 E55 AMG .

The AMG 17" OZ rims may be better suited for the wide-bodied W124 like the 500E, but they still look nice on yours, though there is a compromise on the use of narrower tires.

Wish I had a cool story about a barn, but for the last two years I've been searching for a low mileage wagon, coupe, 560SEC, or diesel W123 and kissed a lot of frogs before finding this one for sale on Ebay.

Looks ultra clean and tidy with high specs. Would the current ride height and 245/45/17 tires at the front cause any rubbing?

Funny you should ask. Today was the big test. First day driving to work on the new wheels. The rears are free and clear as expected. On the front, there is a 1/2" inch strip of plastic body cladding toward the rear of the fender well which rubs on deep dips, and only when the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead. When the wheel is turned, like when taking a freeway ramp, the clearance is good. I believe some Dremel work is in order. BTW, I'm on the stock rubber spring cups with 3 bumps in the front and 2 bumps in the rear.

I paid for this creature. It was a 2 owner CA car. The first owner was Williams-Sonoma Inc. in the SF bay area. Perhaps it was a company car. It was regularly serviced at the local Mercedes dealer as evidenced by a stamped service booklet. The second owner was nearby in Santa Cruz and put 7K mi/yr for 3 yrs. The smog passed with extraordinarily good numbers, A/C is ice cold and the tranny shifts smoothly without any hesitation. I just changed the engine wiring harness for peace of mind, changed all fluids, brakes, suspension and it feels like a new car

For those looking, I'm quite sure excellent examples with low mileage could be found for a couple thousand less. But it could take a long time and if one is very picky about the color combo, condition, and model year, it could take a few years. After a while I just said to hell with it. In a few years it'll only shed a few thousand in value anyway. It's still in the Honda Civic ballpark

I think they have pretty much bottomed I dont think they will be getting cheaper, maybe the contrary, at least for the coupes, 500E and other limited production models.

There are many previous advices on wheel and tires fitment for the W124 in this site well documented in the stickies. 245 is almost the limit for the rear and yours could have rubbed as well had you used staggered wheels at the back which is normally an inch wider than the front; fortunately your front and rear wheels seem to have the same width. You can try replacing the front spring cup with 4 bumps (available in the W201 series) to slightly raise the ride height (not a lot, maybe by only 5mm). However, the new springs and shocks will sag with time so the little gain in ride height now would be lost and rubbing can get worse later on). To avoid rubbing completely you may have to give more vertical and horizontal clearance between the front wheels and the fenders, by using narrower tires for example, like 225/45/17. There will be some balancing act to do to make the car look sitting right with the height and width.
