'89 E230 engine running rough/stuttering under load
Hi everyone,
I am new here and hope someone can help with my problem.
I've inherited my parents' '89 230E and enjoy the car. There is a problem when putting the engine under load while driving like for instance going up a hill or just putting the accelerator down to the floor to accelerate quickly.
The engine will start stuttering/not running smoothly until you take your foot off the accelerator a bit or when you just drive normally on an even road. The rev counter will also start jumping a bit when the engine starts doing this.
So far I have replaced the fuel filter, HT leads and spark plugs but there has been no change.
Could it be a bad vacuum line or the fuel pump going faulty?
The car starts and idles normally.
Thanks.
