230 Trubble when cold.
Hi!
Got this really annoying problem(1987 230 Automatic, it's the m102 engine) with the power delivery when cold(garage temp).
Trying to accelerate is next to impossible, no power and the engine vibrates/stutter a lot.
It starts just beautiful every time, warm or cold doesn't matter. Revs fantastic.
But as soon as I put any load on the engine it 'fails' ans stutter.
However, as soon as the temp gauge rises to about 80C the problem is gone. No problem at all.
To make it even more interesting I can get the car to a slight slope,'lock' it in second and do all kinds of magic and I might get the car over 2000-3000 rpm and then I can accelerate. trow in third and let the rpm fall below 2-3k and the problem is back again.
Summary: Lack of power when cold, unless above 3000rpm.
Problem gone when temp gauge show ~80C.
Oil, sparks filters changed.
Thanks!

Out Of Control!!
Surprise us---do your homework and get a pulse counter and post the pulse codes.
With the codes posted the faults are defined--------without that information-----my guess is the OVP is under protecting or the rear passenger ashtray are over filled!!

Thanks Plutoe! After further investigation the ashtray does seem out of place.
However the pursuit is now on to find low fuel pressure, it's just a hunch but it's all I got right now.
I'll keep you updates if the OVP is acting up though.

Ok so it's July now and after spending way too much time on this thing it is now resting in a junkyard.
OVP, Fuel, Air Exh, Elec etc. I gave up.
Good news is that I got a boat instead(I'll be damn is the sail show any signs of stuttering when cold ..) Anyway, this forum helped me a lot trying new ideas and ways of doing things so thank you all for writing and figuring things out no matter how small. Unfortunately it didn't work out for this little mb.
Have a good one.
