1991 500E Accelerates on its own

Hi guys, i am new to the forum and honestly pretty new to Mercedes as well!

I own a 1991 500E which is doing strange things with regard to cruise control. When i drive above 60km/h the car either accelerates by itself or holds speed meaning i have to brake extra hard and it wears out my pads and is not really practical or safe to drive. Throttle cable is smooth and I concluded that this is down to a faulty cruise control module which i believe is the 'E-Gas' module on M119 engines? I couldn't find any separate module under the dash or passenger footrest so I concluded it must be the E-Gas (part no. 124 545 26 32).

Firstly, is there an easy DIY repair that can be done to these modules?

Secondly, if not- does anyone know of anybody who can repair such modules? I live in the UAE; if there is a specialist electrician here that would be amazing.

Thirdly, does anyone have one or know of one for sale?

Thanks,

Henry

I am very confused, the cruise control has memory. Are you sure of what you are doing!! Have you read the manual, because it sounds from what you said the cruise control is working correctly----what have I missed??
