Lightbulb Zero performance below 1500 rpm... 92 300CE

I am hoping someone can help me with this issue... I've taken it to 3 mechanics now and no one's been able to find the problem. I'm driving a 1992 300CE

The issue is that from ~600-1500 rpm I get almost zero throttle response... and I mean zero.. for a good 3-5 seconds. Then when it finally gets up to 1400-1500 rpm it takes off pretty fast. On a cold start I always have to start it twice, sometimes 3 or 4 times. It dies immediately after starting.

Past mechanics have replaced the distributor, cleaned injectors, cleaned the intake and done other things I can't think of off the top of my head, but nothing really helped that much.

I often get stuck in intersections!! Very annoying problem!

The problem has been persisting for at least 4 years... It was almost bearable until I parked it for 6 months without driving it at all. Now it just got so much worse.

Thank you for your help!!

My car was like this when my ignition wires and plug wires were ****. If there was any sort of moisture or whatever in the air, the car would stumble and falter all the time.

It also was really bad when my air filter housing wasn't mounted securely to the throttle body. The gasket had let go, and the mounts were broken off so it just sort of floated there.

I don't know if either of those two could be what is bothering your car, but checking is free :P

The ignition wires are almost new, I had them replaced about a year ago. I also checked the air filter housing.. It's definitely securely on there.

I know for one thing the EGR valve is shot. Could that have anything to do with it?

A mechanic friend of mine had me check the engine code by pressing the button by the ECU... the led flashed 17 times.

Code 17 means:
17 Data exchange malfunction between individual control module

according to this
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...-pin-14-a.html

I also added octane booster for ****s and giggles and WOW! it's like a new car all of a sudden!

Does this narrow down the problem at all?? Anyone know what I should check next?

Thanks!

I fixed the problem. For anyone who's interested the problem was the EHA valve. I picked up a refurb valve on Ebay for $50 and it solved the problem.
