400E knock sensors

I'm replacing the engine mounts on this 92 400E and in removing the passenger side support I have damaged the knock sensor. Looks like I just broke the case, which is very brittle. To replace this unit in the future will require removing the support mounts again, which I do not want to do !!
If I just leave it the way it is does it create any driveability issues...assuming I only use the correct fuel.

One of the wires was broken, which soldered, then encased the whole thing in silicone. Fingers crossed...but what a dumb place to put a sensor!!
