Mercedes E220 Manual roof removal

Hi everyone

I have a 1994 E220 cabriolet and recently the roof stopped working due to a busted ram. $1000 later i got it repaired and 3 days later the roof went again & apparently i have 2 more rams ( the 2 biggest ) that have now busted. I can't really afford to get them repaired & the mechanic is suggesting that it would be better to get all 7 done at the same time as they are all likely to start going as they are all the same age etc. I really can't afford $3,500 worth of added repairs at the moment & probably wont be able to afford it for quite a while.

So my question. Can anyone suggest if it is possible to put the roof down and up through a manual process? Obviously it wouldn't be something I would bother doing all the time but i would like to still be able to put it down when requiring long drives, weather permitting. the mechanic said it should be possible but looking through the manual it has instructions on how to put it up manually, but says it is not possible to put it down

Would love some advicem, directon & hopefully instructions on how do this

Would you please reread your post ten times to your self and each time when you come to the part of your post where you say---"not possible to put it down"--say hallelujah.

Now reread your manual---- has the wording changed from no to yes

Wow passive aggressive much? Thank you for being incredibly rude and unhelpful all at the same time

I can get the roof up no problem. I can get the back roof compartment open no problem. My question is, how can I manually get the roof, when up and "locked" into the car, to release. Everything else I have under control and can do - just need to know how to unlock the roof / back window from the roof cavity compartment.

If I could get an answer that is not rude and facetious that would be excellent. Sorry I was told to come on this website for help from a friend as he said people are generally very helpful, key word perhaps may have been "generally"

After reviewing the factory documentation, I am going with your, repeat your mechanic, where he says----"but he says not possible to put it down"
