1991 300e 4matic round socket in motor space
This may sound like a dumb question. in the motor space on the right side just inboard of the battery there is the 16-pin terminal. No problem! But on the left side just forward of the shock and spring mounting - located against the inside of the fender - there is a 9-pin round socket with a screw-cap, for which I have not been able to figure its function. Can somebody please tell me what its purpose is???
Thank you,

Out Of Control!!
The 16 pin is your diagnostic socket. The 9 pin is you lambda tester---now don't be lazy and say--OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh what's that---spend your time searching the subject!!

Hello Plutoe,
thanks for the info ... and I will follow your advice, which is well placed. I am a boat electrician - installer and troubleshooter - and would also tell others to do their homework prior to diving into a task. Sometimes, other tasks are overwhelming time-wise that is why I took the shortcut ...
Again, thank you.
