Front fender removal... The last bolt. That last... Damn... Bolt.

Okay I freely admit to basic ability that's apparently overmatched here.
I want to remove the front fender to get at the hood spring. There are many bolts involved and trim and headlight removal required to do this, no surprise.

But there are three bolts along the trailing edge of the fender that are partially hidden by the door. So you open the door and the first two are easy to access... But that bottom one.
That... Last.. One. I simply can't reach it. I've got three different wobble sockets and they simply can't get there.

Do I really have to take off the door to accomplish this? I have to be overthinking this.

Who has done this before? I see nothing online that helps, including video that carefully details the headlight removal and bolts in the wheel well, but glosses over my question completely.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Nope, you are not over matched, however the folks that repaired a previous crash must have assumed---what yahoo would want to easily remove the fender--screw the alignments put it back together.

Now you gotta loosen one of the hinges to get to the fooken bolt!!

ordered 2020 c63s coupe
OK, delivery, this time, really, absolutely, no kidding. I sent an extensive email to the MB vp for customer service in Atlanta and explained that they were holding my paid for car hostage and when can I get it. Just got a call from them telling me that the real release date is November. Period. Honest. This time I kind of believe them. So likely a minimum of six weeks, plus transport and prep.

Simple

Its simple to remove it all you have to do is: remove the plastic part from the bottom of the fender and also you have to remove the plastic from the door after that open the door and you will be able to reach the bolt. it was hard for me too but after removing this 2 parts i did it. Hope this helps. Regards!

Obviously the post above was intended for the '2020 write up Last SL' Thread in the SL Class 231 Forum, but somehow it wound up here because this E-Class thread somehow got attached as a 'related thread' due to some kind of site error.

Perhaps this Forum's Moderator can move the SL post back to the correct thread where it really belongs.

Regarding that bolt, my brother and I were working on an E420 I picked up that had some front end damage and we were pulling this off... No joke, definitely needed to pull door off the hinges. Doesn't help that the fender was pushed half an inch back by the collision it was in.
